The king, representative of the city’s deity on earth,
co-ruled with the high-priest.
Laws were necessary to guide the people.
Their deity’s commandments were their straitjacket.
INDIA’S CASTE SYSTEM
India’s caste system is a complex and deeply ingrained SOCIAL HIERARCHY [ROLES] within HINDUISM, dividing society into four main categories [VARNA] and further into numerous [“pecking order”] sub-castes [JATI]. DALIT: outcasts known as “untouchables”.
